Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Oxide Connect website and the signed-in Oxide experience, including profiles, the feed, Live Invitations, messages, communities, destinations, events, music listings, blogging, business profiles, the resident gallery, and the Oxide Viewer download pages.

• Account details you provide when registering, such as an email address and password credential handled by our authentication provider.
• Profile information you choose to publish, such as display name, Second Life avatar name, bio, links, availability, communication preference, and optional detail fields with your chosen visibility.
• Content you create: posts, comments, reactions, saved items, photos and other media, blog entries, listings, events, music sets, and Live Invitations.
• Direct messages between residents, stored so that conversations work.
• Safety records: reports you file, blocks and mutes you set, and moderation decisions taken on content.
• Basic operational records needed to run the service, such as media storage usage, notification state, and audit entries for staff actions.

• Oxide never asks for your Second Life password and never signs in to Second Life on your behalf.
• Oxide does not detect your in-world location, your online state, or your viewer session. A destination appears only when a resident types one.
• Oxide does not sell resident data.

Much of Oxide is public by design. Profile fields, posts, and listings follow the audience you select, such as Public, Connections, or Only Me. Adult-rated material is kept out of the main feed, discovery, search, and signed-out pages, and is shown only to residents who confirmed they are adults and turned Adult content on.

Live Invitations are short lived and person to person. They respect your audience choice, your blocks and mutes, and content ratings, and they stop appearing once they expire or are closed.

You may link a Second Life avatar name and optionally import a public Second Life profile photo. Verification uses in-world verification terminals or the Oxide Viewer. Only public Second Life information is used.

Content stays until you remove it or a moderation decision removes it. Notifications you have read are purged automatically. Media follows storage lifecycle rules for cleanup of unused or removed files. Some safety and audit records are kept longer so that reports and appeals can be reviewed.

You can edit or delete most of your own content from within the product. To request account deletion, use the in-product support and feedback tools while signed in.

Oxide uses third-party infrastructure for hosting, database, authentication, media storage, and transactional email. These providers process data only to operate the service.

Oxide Connect is for adults who use Second Life. Do not create an account if you are under the minimum age for Second Life.
