A conversation with Imogen Strange

Imogen answered these questions herself. Her responses are shared as she wrote them.

Who are you, and what is your history in Second Life?
I'm Imogen Strange, and I've been in Second Life since 2008. I've watched how creation and connections here evolve over the years, and Second Life has become an important part of my creative life.
Why did you and Zach start Oxide Connect?
The Second Life community is incredible, but photos, social spaces, shopping, events, businesses and people are scattered across separate websites. Zach and I wanted to connect those experiences specifically for residents.
What are you most passionate about in Oxide?
Community and discovery: helping residents, creators, photographers, bloggers, businesses and communities find each other, and the connection to the actual Viewer.
Why does a connected Second Life identity matter to you?
Your avatar is your identity. Second Life encompasses businesses, friendships, communities, careers and lives, and it deserves a connected platform built around that real experience.
What is your role in Oxide?
I'm co-founder alongside Zach. I focus on Oxide Connect's community experience: design, features, testing and resident needs, working closely with the Viewer side. We co-lead the overall direction.
What would you like Oxide Connect to be for residents?
A natural place to connect, share, discover, promote your work and find adventures. It should enhance Second Life, not replace it.
What is your background outside Second Life?
I've been a digital artist since the early Photoshop debates, and I love creative tools. I've spent nearly two decades in Second Life, and now I'm building a platform for it.

Catalysts: the early testing team

Catalysts are early testers who report issues, share feedback and help shape Oxide. They are a separate team from the co-founders, and being a Catalyst is not a founder role.
